Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore - When Johnny Comes Marching Home

"When Johnny Comes Marching Home" é uma música composta durante a Guerra Civil dos EUA pelo compositor e maestro irlandês Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore, que viveu e trabalhou nos Estados Unidos depois de 1848.

Apesar de servir no exército da União durante a Guerra Civil, Gilmore escreveu a letra para a canção When Johnny Comes Marching Home. Apesar de baseada em uma canção anti-guerra irlandesa, foi alterada para ser uma canção de incentivo utilizada inicialmente pela União e mais tarde pelos Confederados nos anos finais do conflito. Por isso, acabou ficando como um símbolo dos Confederados em filmes, livros e séries.
